Services for Sue Wells will be 11:00a.m., Monday, October 26, 2015 at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday, October 25, from 1pm--6pm with family receiving visitors from 4pm--6pm. Sue went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the age of 79.
Vesta "Sue" Wells was born July 7, 1936 in Verdigris to Samuel J. and Marie (Townsley) Thomas. She was a loving faithful wife of 53 years to Melvin Wells, who preceded her in death. She is survived by their three sons: Donnie and Tammie Wells of Oologah; Ron and Nena Wells of Claremore; Jerry and Shawna Wells of Claremore; one sister, Bessie and Johnny Biswell; her brothers Charlie and Shirley Thomas and Pete and Debi Thomas; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Sumter, Beulah Wells and Barbara Thomas.
She was known as "Ma Sue" to her 23 grandchildren; and "Gigi" to her 14 great grandchildren. Sue graduated from Claremore in 1954. Upon graduation she met Melvin Wells at Lone Elm Church where they were married on December 22, 1954. Sue worked for Montgomery Ward, Humpty Dumpty, Claremore Electric and Plumbing Supply and Rogers County Bank, but she found her home at Froman's Propane as an accountant where she retired in 2010.
Sue greatly enjoyed attending church where she was an active member of the Lone Elm Church for over fifty years. Sue also enjoyed singing with her husband, family holidays, and most of all watching all of their grandchildren in their sports.
She was preceded in death by her parents Samuel "Shorty" and Marie Thomas; her husband Melvin Wells; brother, Don Thomas; two brothers in laws: Buster Wells and JR. Sumter; one sister in law, Linda Hardison.
