Susan Joyce Mathews was relieved of her pain and joined our father in heaven on January 21, 2022. Susan was born July 26, 1964 in Cleveland, Ohio to Walter and Eugenie Kiener. Susan graduated from the nursing program at Cedarville College with honors where she obtained a bachelors of science degree in nursing. She met Daryl Mathews In Columbia, Missouri where they were joined in matrimony in 1994. Daryl, and Susan moved to Oklahoma, and soon after started their family. They made a home in Claremore, OK where they lived and raised their family for the past 18yrs.
Daryl has many loving and cheerful memories of Susan; one that stands out to him, was her infectous laughter which was sure to put a smile on his face, and made everyone in the room laugh even harder. Susan was an active part of her kids life as they grew up, they always felt her love, and support. Blake has fond memories of his mom’s attendance at his baseball games, cheering in the stands as his biggest fan. Blair credits her mom for giving her insight, direction, and support with completing college courses to pursue her career in the medical field. Susan enjoyed special time away with her family to Branson, Mo where they would go to museums, restaurants, and Silver Dollar City.
Anyone who knew Susan, would tell you she was known for her beautiful smile, laugh and zest for life. She loved people and had a passion for helping them. Being a nurse for over 30yrs was second nature for her, because she was so loving. Susan was full of optimism, and charisma which rubbed off on anyone within close proximity, she was always the brightest star in the room. Susan was a faithful child of Christ and had a firm steadfast belief that Christ was her savior and she would be with him in the end. Susan enjoyed the relaxation of reading a good mystery novel, as well as crafting of various types; especially at Christmas time where she made ornaments and gave them away to her friends and family.
Susan is survived by her husband Daryl Mathews, daughter Blair Ross and her husband Britton, son Blake Mathews, her brother Gary Kiener and his wife Lisa and their daughters Mackenzie Kiener, and Andrea Bowen, and son Austin Dummitt.
