Susie Osten, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024, at the age of 66. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 11:00am at Chelsea First Baptist Church, followed by burial at Chelsea Cemetery under the care of Chelsea Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 1:00pm-8:00pm, with family receiving friends from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
Susie was born in Coffeyville, KS to Olan and Vivian (Barnes) Wooten. Susie attended grade school in Caney, KS before the family relocated to Cheslea, where she would graduate high school in 1976. It was in Chelsea that she met the love of her life, Rick Osten of Alluwe. They were married on November 2nd, 1979. Susie dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mom, supporting her children through school band and sporting activities. Susie had a talent for sewing and crocheting, often making her kids clothes and Halloween costumes. Susie enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, visiting with friends and family, and couldn’t pass up talking politics.
Following her husband's passing, Susie worked various jobs until retiring to help care for her grandchildren. Bringing her great pride and enjoyment, Susie loved her grandchildren dearly. A devoted wife, mother, sister, grandparent, and aunt, Susie will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
Susie is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Rick.
She is survived by her son, Dexter Osten and wife Candace; daughter, Andrea Baldridge and husband Josh; mother-in-law, Rosemary Osten; brothers, Sonny Wooten and wife Lynne, Ralph Wooten, Charlie Wooten and wife Margie, and Mike Wooten and wife Aloa; sisters, Kay Meloy and Teresa Freer; and her grandchildren, Kyra, Gracie, Sawyer, Silas, Osten, and Cason; numerous nieces and nephews.
