Barbara “Suzanne” Farley, 54, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016 in Vinita, OK. The daughter of James A. and Barbara Hansford Farley she was born July 28, 1961 in Claremore, OK.
As a young girl she lived at Hissom Memorial Center in Sand Springs. At age 18 Suzanne relocated to Home of Hope in Vinita, OK living in the residential facility, later moving to Gunter House and lastly resided at the Delaware House group home. Suzanne’s life was filled with love and happiness, surrounded by exceptional people in all facets of her life and blessed with wonderful friends, family and support.
Suzanne was her mother’s inspiration to help found the Rogers County Association for Retarded Children, the Rogers County Work Training Center and many hours of volunteering with Home of Hope.
An avid Sooner fan, Suzanne participated in Special Olympics with her Coach Switzer, enjoyed music, especially Elvis, movie night with Phil, dancing, attending church, TV with her housemates, organizing her “stuff” and coming home to Claremore. She loved to work and was most recently employed at Centsible Spending in Vinita, OK. She was always on the go never missing a trip in the van and cherished time spent with her friends. Suzanne was a loving and happy person, never meeting a stranger, and always greeting you with a hug and a smile.
Her family is eternally grateful to her devoted staff and team who assisted her during her amazing life. She will be missed by her many friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her mother Barbara Hansford Farley. Suzanne is survived by her father James A. Farley, brother Eric Farley and wife Andra, sister Adrienne West and husband Marc all residing in Claremore and nephew Mitchell West of Oklahoma City.
Services will be held Friday, February 26, at First Baptist Church in Claremore at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Sam Nichols officiating. Services are under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
