Terri Lynn Young

Graveside service for Terri Young will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore.

Terri Lynn Young passed away on Sunday, June 20th, 2021 at the age of 61.

The daughter of Harold Porterfield and Wanda (Payne) Elliott was born January 19th, 1960 in Claremore, Oklahoma. Terri was a lifelong resident of Rogers County. She grew up attending Claremore schools, graduating as a member of the class of 1978. Upon graduating Terri married her high school sweetheart Bret Young on October 21, 1978. The newly wed couple would make their home in Claremore. During this time Terri was working as a bank teller for Rogers County Bank. After a couple of years at the bank, Terri decided it was time to do something different. So she and Bret began working together driving a truck for a hot shot delivery service. However this adventure for Terri would be short lived, and she would begin her greatest job of all. For in the years to follow Terri would become a full time homemaker and mother. Terri was truly happy being at home with her family and her animals. In fact after her daughter was raised her animals were treated just like children. She loved her horses, dogs, cats and even rabbits. Not only did she enjoy her animals, she often donated to other organizations to help care for others in need.


Terri was a kind and loving person who will be missed by all those who knew her. She is survived by her husband Bret Young; daughter, Angela Brooke Young; father, Harold Porterfield; sister, Stephanie Bauer; aunt, Sherry Still; uncle, Rodney Payne, brother-in-laws, Jay and Alan Young; sister-in-law, Sue Gull and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her mother Wanda Elliott.
