Terry Stuart Walker passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the age of 70.
The son of James and Edna Jones Walker was born August 18, 1947 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. At a young age his family moved to the Muskogee area. There he was raised and attended Muskogee schools. He was a member of the graduating class of 1965. Upon graduation he enrolled at Okmulgee Tech. There he fueled his knowledge for racing by studying auto mechanics.
On October 21, 1967 Terry married his high school sweetheart Bobbye King. The newlywed couple initially made their home in Muskogee. They then moved to Tulsa to be closer to his job at McDonnell-Douglas. He then took a job working for Word Industries. This taught him the trade of welding and pipefitting. Quickly he became one of the area's most sought after employees. This led him to work primarily for the Plumbers and Pipefitters local #430. He retired from there after 22 years of service. However, retirement was short, and he worked another 5 years for John Zinc.
Through Terry's life he has always been a true family man and friend. This was evident in the way he volunteered his time for his family. He became an umpire when his daughter played softball. A mechanic and pit crew member when his son and grandchildren followed in his footsteps of racing. When his friends needed some sort of fabricating or machining, he was always there to lend a hand. Terry was there for them all, giving the best he had whatever the task, large or small.
He is preceded in death by his parents, J.D and Edna Walker; brother, Mickey Walker and sisters, Rosalie Cain and Mary Lou Morrison.
Survivors include his wife Bobbye; son, Kenneth Walker and wife Saundra; daughter, Dayna Walker and companion, Billy James; grandchildren, Kris Carroll, Craig Carroll, Mickey Walker, Ronald Paeper, Lauren Paeper, Laura Hunt, Jordan James, Joshua James, and Jessica Wells; and great-grandchildren, Kamden and Colten Carroll, Aurora Wells, and Gracie and Ethan James.
