Funeral service for Theata Faye (Bullard) Thomas will be 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 3, at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel with her grandson-in-law, Pastor Andrew Wilkens, officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. at Westlawn Cemetery, Henryetta. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sun. 1-6 p.m., and family will greet friends 1-3 p.m.
Theata passed away Wed., Oct. 29, 2014, at her home at the age of 80.
The daughter of George Carlizle "Tom" and Carrie (Read) Bullard was born Oct. 14, 1934, in Mullin, TX. She grew up in the communities of Brownwood, TX, Comanche, TX, and Odessa, TX. As a young adult she worked as a carhop for several years. On Feb. 19, 1949, she married Robert Thomas, Jr. in Odessa. The couple moved to Oklahoma from West Texas in 1969 and to Claremore in 1991. Theata and Robert enjoyed genealogy research and traveling together. They celebrated their golden anniversary in 1999. She also enjoyed reading, needlework, sewing, listening to music, and visiting with family.
Theata was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 2003; her infant son, Robert Edker Thomas, III; siblings: Viola Bassham, Earl Bullard, and Charles Bullard; and grandchild, Jennifer Caroline Beeson.
She is survived by her children: George Thomas and wife, Nancy of Inola, Bennie Thomas and wife, Liz of Coweta, Sandra Carter of Tulsa, Terrie Clark of Midwest City, and Carolyn Sutorus and husband, Randy of Broken Arrow; grandchildren: Darrell, Carly, Charles Terry, D.J., Bryon, Carrie, Shyloe, Sarah, Kirsten, Dylan, and Chris; and great-grandchildren: Trenton, Paige, Audrey, Adam, Raeleigh, Kylie, Ramey, J.D., Ashley, and Miriam.
