Funeral service for Thomas Dwight Nickles, Sr. will be 2 p.m., Wed., Nov. 10, at Word Outreach Center, Foyil, with Dr. R. Andrew Rankin and Rev. Ruben Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-8 p.m.
Thomas died Fri., Nov. 5, 2010, at his home at the age of 78.
The son of Thomas Delmar and Fannie Margaret (Headrick) Nickles was born Nov. 12, 1931, in Topeka, KS. Thomas grew up in Claremore attending Lone Elm and Claremore schools. He worked at Litner Ice House and then Davis Chevrolet. He met Esther Robbins of Foyil and they were married Sept. of 1960. Thomas later went to work for McKissick Products in Tulsa as a welder. He retired in 1996 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Teamsters 523, Tulsa. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and raising cattle. Thomas also enjoyed his Friday get-together's with his brother's at Eggbert's. Thomas always bailed his own hay; and was a member of Word Outreach Center in Foyil.
Survivors include his wife, Esther of the home; daughter, LaFonda Bly and husband, Richard of Broken Arrow; son, Thomas Dwight "Tom" Nickles, Jr. and wife, Lori of Claremore; brothers: Harold Nickles of Owasso, Donald Nickles and wife, Shirley of Claremore, and Verol Nickles and wife, Phyllis of Claremore; grandchildren: Ashley, Zachary, Thomas, and Ethan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Orvan, Ivan, and Dale Nickles; and sister, Wilma LeMaster.
