Tommy Joe Brown was born on December 4, 1936, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Joseph Thomas and Ora Mae (Hilbert) Brown. Tommy was the embodiment of dedication and passion throughout his life.

After completing elementary school at Verdigris, Tom graduated from Inola High School with the class of 1956. He began his career at a farm and ranch store in Claremore, and subsequently became a skilled metal finisher, working for several companies, including a notable retirement from Pratt & Whitney.

Tom's diverse interests reflected his vibrant personality. He had a love for fishing and trapping and found great joy in planting gardens and tending to the land, particularly in mowing and baling hay. His most treasured moments, however, were spent watching his family thrive, making it a priority to support them at their sporting events. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments. An avid sports fan, Tom had a particular affinity for OU softball, basketball, and baseball. He also dedicated ten years to coaching girls' softball, instilling in them the values of teamwork and perseverance. Tom was instrumental in starting the Tiawah Fire Department in 1964. He also gave of his time with the Baptist Builders.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Brown, and their children: Tommie Stone and her husband David, Tammy Malone and her husband Joe, Adren Cottom and his wife Samantha, Tony Cottom and his wife Melissa, and Breanna Stanek and her husband Keith. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Andy Fullerton, Mollie Brown, Liz Lovejoy, Sarah Malone, Clay Cottom, Isaac Stanek, Bryce Cottom, Noah Stanek, Kristin Cottom, Alexis Cottom, Elijah Stanek, and Jacob Stanek, and welcomed many great and great-great-grandchildren into his life and his brother Richard Brown and wife Roberta.
