Service for Vena Mae Casey will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2019 at North Park Trinity Baptist Church; burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit at MMS-Payne Funeral Home from 1pm-8pm, on Thursday, April 11, with family receiving visitors from 6pm-8pm. Vena passed away at her home on Monday, April 8, 2019. She was 96.
Born November 15, 1922 in Pryor, Oklahoma to Robert Franklin and Lillian Camila (Heflin) Beanland, Vena attended grade school in Ponca City, and then attended school in Tiawah, graduating with the class of 1940 as Salutatorian. She worked for Wal-Mart as a cashier, retiring with 24 years of faithful service. Vena didn't stay retired for long, she worked for a time with GoodWill and later went back to Wal-Mart as one of their best greeters.
Vena loved spending time with her family and she enjoyed visiting her sister. She took care of her yard, including mowing until a few years ago. She was devoted to her church, North Park Trinity Baptist.
Those family members that survive include her sons Preston Casey and Gary Casey both of Claremore; her grandchildren Shelly Willhoite and husband Steve, Robert Casey and wife Amber, Kelly Oxford and husband Jeff, and David Casey and wife Heather, all of Claremore, Tina Abicca and husband Frank of Freeport, Florida, and Kit Kelley and wife Ryan, also of Claremore; her great-grandchildren Jeffrey Oxford, Brittany Casey, Nathan Casey, Abby Casey, Tessa Casey, Tyten Oxford, Josie Abicca, Emma Kelley, Addyson Kelley, and Kyren Kelley; and many nieces and nephews.
Vena was preceded in death by her parents, her daughers Dale Dikeman and Sandy Gasaway; her grandsons John Casey and Barry Casey, and sister Betty Heflin.
