Vera Atha Raffety passed away on November 9, 2023, in Claremore, Oklahoma. She was born on September 25, 1929, in Stilwell, Oklahoma, to James McKinzie and Lela Mae McKinzie. Vera attended the Bushyhead schoolhouse until the 8th grade.
In her youth, Vera met John Raffety, and the couple dated for some time. John later served his country during World War II. Once he returned home, Vera and John were married in September 1946.
Vera had a variety of hobbies that brought her joy, including sewing and engaging in arts and crafts. She contributed to the community by working at the Chelsea Drug Store and briefly selling Avon Beauty products.
Vera is preceded in death by her parents, James and Lela McKinzie, her husband John Raffety, sisters Delois McClish and Irma Dean Harrison along with Irma's husband J.L. Harrison, brother J.W. McKinzie, and brothers-in-law Jim Craig, Harold DeLay, and Joe Harrison, and sister-in-law Earlene McKinzie.
She is survived by her son Wes Raffety; sisters Mae Craig, Talritha DeLay, Carmen Harrison; brothers R.L. McKinzie and Roger McKinzie. Vera's memory will be cherished by her family and all who knew her.
