Memorial service for Viola "Skeet" VanSandt will be 3 p.m., Wed., April 18, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Dr. Ted Estes officiating.
Skeet died Sat., April 14, 2012, at her home surrounded by family at the age of 63.
The daughter of Joseph Earl and Vina Elizabeth (Tyner) Burk was born Feb. 6, 1949, in Rubottom. Skeet grew up in southern Oklahoma in the Orr area. On June 17, 1981, she married Bobby Dean VanSandt in Madison, AR. She worked in factories most of her life, retiring in 2006. Skeet enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time with her grandbabies and children, and motorcycle riding. Skeet was a caregiver to anyone she knew. She took great care of her mother and mother-in-law before they passed away. She will be remembered as a spunky and feisty lady.
Skeet was preceded in death by her father, Joseph in 1985; her mother, Vina in 2005; and siblings: Lavern Willett and Eugene Burk.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby of the home; children: Dale Ray Stephens and Shawna of Miami, Becky Stephens and Mike of Oologah, Bobby Dean VanSandt, Jr. and wife, Shelly of Miami, Ronda Howard and husband, Donnie of Tulsa, Jimmy Roy "Bubba" Stephens and wife, Denese of Neosho, MO, Tawna Colton and husband, Dave of Neosho, MO, Christy Jacobson and husband, Billy of Claremore, Chance VanSandt of the home, Cydney VanSandt of the home, and Daniel Landon Foster of the home; siblings: JoAnn Alpha of Jamestown, NY, Bobby Burk and wife, Judy of McAlester, Dean Wemkin and husband, Rick of Fluvanna, TX, James Burk and wife, Randi of Ratcliff City, and Donna Ford and husband, Nick of Lone Grove; 19 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and multiple family members and loved ones.
