Virginia Lee McMullin

Funeral service for Virginia McMullin will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Epworth United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Beck Cemetery under direction of the Chelsea Funeral Home. 

Life long Chelsea resident, Virginia Lee McMullin passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at the age of 102.

The daughter of George and Lucy (England) Mitchell was born May 24, 1921 in Claremore, Oklahoma. As a young girl she was raised in rural Chelsea. There she would eventually attend Central View and Chelsea schools. One weekend while attending a function with her friend, Virginia was introduced to Cecil McMullin. The two began dating, and married on October 7, 1939. The newly wed couple made their home in Chelsea. In the years to follow Virginia's focus would be on her husband and four children. As they became older and moved away, Virginia found other hobbies and interests to keep her going. She loved gardening, raising flowers, and playing bingo. She looked forward to the many visitors who would stop by and say hello, hoping that a domino game might start up as well. However it was her  large family that brought her the greatest enjoyment. Spending time with them was what she loved the most.

She is preceded in death by her parents George and Lucy (England) Mitchell; husband of almost 53 years, Cecil McMullin; daughters, Marita Don and Patsy Tune; siblings Elmer Mitchell, Irene Maggard, Sadie McMullin, Beaulah Jordan, George "Bud" Mitchell, Juanita Mitchell, and Gordon Mitchell; granddaughter, Phyllis Standingwater, and  grandson, Steven Butcher.

Survivors include her daughters, Sharon Dick of the home, and Linda McKee of Adair; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great grandchildren.
