Services celebrating the life of Walter Eldon Asher will be 2:00p.m., Monday, March 10, 2014 at Bethel Chapel in Claremore; burial will follow at Kellyville Cemetery under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday, March 9, from 1—6. Walter went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 6, 2014. He was 74.
Born November 2, 1939 in Drumright, Oklahoma to Joseph Matt and Lorretta (Mooney) Asher, Walter was reared and educated in several communities. It was while living around the Kellyville area that he met Bonnie Mae Harwood and later she became his wife. They were married on July 21, 1958 in a Kellyville ceremony. This couple was blessed with three children. In 1990 Chelsea became home and Walter enjoyed many hobbies that included hunting and fishing. He grew a large garden each year and his family and friends were recipients of its bounty. Walter was very devoted to his church and all of its ministries and loved sharing the gospel. He was a great provider for his family and made sure they had all they needed, he was most attentive to his loving wife Bonnie.
A wonderful father, grandfather and friend, Walter will be missed by all who knew him. Those family members that survive include his children Denton D. Asher of Chelsea, Timothy W. Asher and wife Trixi of Claremore and Rebecca A. Mason and husband Stanley of Broken Arrow; 2 grandchildren Caleb and Kathryn. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bonnie, and siblings Gerald, Mildred, Wayne and Betty.
