Funeral services for Wanda Louise Jinks, 87 of Claremore will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2012 at Memorial Heights Baptist Church with Pastors' Paul Simpson and Darin Haddox officiating. Interment will follow in Lone Elm Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Musgrove-Merriott- Smith Funeral Chapel with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Wanda was born November 14, 1925 in Shawnee, OK the daughter of Leslie "Jack" and Ruby Lee (Owen) Myers. She was raised in Shawnee and married Starley Jinks on June 13, 1942 in Shawnee. Wanda worked for J.C. Penney in Shawnee. The couple moved to Borger, TX where she continued working for J.C. Penney. After moving to Claremore they "Snowbirded" to Texas in a camper for the winter for many years. Wanda enjoyed sewing, crafting and antiquing and operated an antique shop in Hoover's Mall for a number of years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and is thought of by her family as the "proverbial woman". She was an active member of Memorial Heights Baptist Church for many years, member of the Golden Wisdom Sunday School Class and member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Wanda was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles "Buddy" Myers and Billy Jack "Bill" Myers. She is survived by her husband Starley of the home; two daughters, Judy Haddox (Leon) of Claremore and Dorothy Wheless of Claremore; five grandchildren, Debbie Andrews(Keith), Darin Haddox(Kittie), Tandi Wheless, Leigh Wheless, and Rodney Wheless; eight great-grandchildren, Josh, Michael, Brian, Lance, Taylor, Krista, Chad and Kasyn.
