Wanda passed away at home on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. She was 81 years old.
The daughter of Samuel and Eva Hughes was born February 22, 1936, in Catale. At the age of 14, the family moved to Chelsea, where she later met Royce "Pedro" Morris. They married on September 10, 1953, in Vinita. They followed Pedro's oil field work to Farmington, New Mexico, where they lived for about a year before returning to Chelsea. This has been home since. Wanda helped Pedro work their farm, caring for cows and chickens, raising a garden, and canning what it produced.
In her spare time, Wanda enjoyed crocheting, sewing, drawing, and picking pecans. Her favorite pastime was drinking coffee, which she would do all day long. She also had a little dog that she loved greatly, but most of all, she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Eva Hughes; husband Royce Morris, and brothers, Bob, Wade, Bill, and Orville Hughes, and sisters Ruby Wilson and Mary Park.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Mike Morris and wife Barbara, and daughter Penny Collins and husband Pete, all of Chelsea, daughter Shelly Downs and husband Mike of Claremore, grandchildren, Brandi Morris-Smith and husband Justin, Brandon "Ben" Morris and wife Emma, Charolette Downs, Sarah Downs, Mercedes Bailey and husband Jerry, and Sierra Collins, great-grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, Zayhona, Emily, Isla, Boweri, Sawyer, and Stephen, and sisters, Louise Rhodes, Judy Park, and Ruthie Knipe.
