Wanda Verdell Stokes passed away peacefully on June 30, 2021. She was 93 years old. Verdell was born in Seminole, Oklahoma to William Everett Flood and Augusta Elizabeth (Mozier) Flood. Growing up, Verdell and her family moved around Oklahoma in many different towns before settling down in Tulsa, Oklahoma. There she attended Cherokee Public Schools.
Verdell had a passion for service; she was heavily involved with Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church as a Sunday School teacher, and volunteered her time with the food bank for as long as she could. When she was not involved with her church family, she loved to go fishing and camping with her family at Spavinaw Creek. Verdell also loved to work in her flower beds. Most of all she loved getting to spend time and create memories with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her Parents Everett and Augusta Flood, husband Gordon Lee Stokes and infant daughter Sharon Elizabeth Stokes.
Verdell is survived by her children Garry Stokes and Caron Diane Stokes; Brother Charles Flood and sister Gail Duncan; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great grand children.
