Funeral service for Ward Thomas Wiley will be 2 p.m., Thurs., Jan. 10, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Pastor David Jones officiating. Burial with military honors by the U.S. Navy will follow at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wed. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
Ward passed away Sat., Jan. 5, 2013, at his home at the age of 59.
The son of Neal Eldon and Linda Marie (Konrad) Wiley was born July 11, 1953, in St. Paul, MN. Ward grew up in South Dakota and Iowa, graduating from West High School in Davenport, IA, in 1972. He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy for 10 years. While in the Navy he was in the Eastern Pacific. After his discharge, he followed his brother, Greg to Claremore. Ward attended Claremore Junior College where he earned a Computer Science degree. He went to work for Community Care Tulsa where he worked in Information Technology. Ward enjoyed fishing, computer games, playing practical jokes, and he was a movie buff. He was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan, and enjoyed fantasy football. He loved doing things for his family, and Christmas was his favorite time of the year. Ward will be remembered as a generous, kind, and gentle soul.
He is preceded in death by his father, Neal.
Ward is survived by his mother, Linda Wiley of Claremore; siblings: Greg Wiley and wife, Robin of Coweta, and Andrea Wiley Jones of Tulsa; nieces and nephews: Sara Houchin of Coweta, Amanda Blenden of Dallas, Brandon Jones of Stillwater, Anthony Jones of Broken Arrow, Serena Jones Searcy of Tulsa, Gregory Jones of Broken Arrow, and Daniel Jones of Tulsa; lifelong friend, Elroy Ratzlaff; and great-nieces and nephews: Cole, Sydnee, and Christin Houchin, Grace, Emma, and Caleb Blenden, Guinivere and Eric Jones, and Noah, Adriana, and John Parker Searcy.
