Funeral service for Wardie Gene Lawson will be 2 p.m., Mon., Nov. 24, at First Baptist Church of Inola. Burial will follow at Lone Elm Cemetery, Claremore, under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Claremore. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sun. 1-6 p.m., and family will greet friends 2-4 p.m.
Wardie passed away Wed., Nov. 19, 2014, at Hillcrest Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 83.
The son of Wardie and Minnie Mary (Storm) Lawson was born April 1, 1931, in Sequoyah. He attended Sequoyah schools. On Sept. 22, 1950, Wardie married Virginia Louise "Jenny" McClure. They made their home in Tiawah. Wardie retired from Burgess-Norton where he was a tool grinder. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, gardening and working on cars. He attended Bethel Tabernacle and Westwood United Pentecostal Church.
Wardie was preceded in death by his wife, Jenny in 2010; and his parents.
He is survived by his children: Debra Kirkley and husband, Bob of Inola, Mike Lawson and wife, Mary of Chelsea, and Shelia Arms and husband, Larry of Tiawah; grandchildren: Vicki and Brad Millsap of McAlester, Amy and Troy Gilmore of Inola, Rob Kirkley of Inola, Aaron Arms and wife, Becky of Claremore, Seth Arms and wife, Virginia of Owasso, and Jessica, Crystal, and Joe Lawson of Chelsea; and great-grandchildren: Ty and Halley Gilmore of Inola, Kytra Lawson of Chelsea, Vivian Valor of Chelsea, and Aylah Lawson of Chelsea.
