Dr. Warner B. Marlar

Memorial service for Dr. Warner Baxter "Bull" Marlar will be 1 p.m., Mon., May 9, at the First Christian Church with Pastor Charles Ragland officiating.

Warner died Tues., May 3, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 80.

The son of Brice Carl and Mamie Elizabeth (Swimmer) Marlar was born Jan. 30, 1931, in Claremore. Warner attended Claremore schools, Chilocco Indian School, and Osteopathic school in Kansas City, MO. He served in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. On Oct. 13, 1958, Warner married Doris Laverne "Sally" Hitch in Kansas City, MO. They made their home in Claremore. Warner was a physician at Blue Starr Clinic, retiring in 2001. He enjoyed running field trials, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Warner is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dr. Jack D. Marlar; and sister, Wilma Gilbert.

He is survived by his wife, Sally of the home; daughter, Mamie Marlar of Chelsea; son, Dr. John Marlar and wife, Jeanie of Eufaula; grandchildren: Katy Dick and husband, Billy of Claremore, Barry Smith and wife, Brooke of Claremore, Rachael Marlar of Eufaula, and Riley Marlar of Eufaula; great-grandchildren: Ashly and Logan Dick, and Braxton Smith all of Claremore; and sister, Helen Marlar Wittenberg of Claremore.
