Wilburn Scott

April 4, 1928 — October 15, 2011

Funeral service for Wilburn "Tooter" Scott will be 10 a.m., Tues., Oct. 18, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Rev. Weldon Foster officiating. Burial with military honors by the U.S. Army will follow at Ward's Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Mon. 1-8 p.m.

Tooter died Sat., Oct. 15, 2011, at the Claremore Veterans Center at the age of 83.

The son of Melvin Lee and Pearley "Mae" (Couch) Scott was born April 4, 1928, in Rogers County, and graduated from Foyil High School in 1947. Tooter served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a concrete finisher. He helped build Newcastle School in 1960, home for Dr. Randle in Midwest City, building for Helmerich & Payne, and Utica Square. He worked with contractor, Ted Reed, for many years.

Tooter is preceded in death by his wife, Margie; his parents; and siblings: Chester Scott, Ailene Pennington, Irene Mooney, Bobby Gene Scott, and Daniel Scott.

He is survived by his step-sons: Ronald Roscoe Breshears and wife, Rae of Texas, Donald Joe Breshears and wife, Ruth of Chelsea, and Billy Jack Breshears of Chelsea; and sisters: Mary Ellen Andrews and husband, Dan of Trimble, MO, Lorine Hudson and husband, Clyde of Blue Springs, MO, and Pauline Bradfield and husband, James of Claremore.
