Funeral service for Wilford R. Terry will be 2 p.m., Fri., Sept. 13, at Chelsea Assembly of God with Pastor Tommy Parker, Brother Lynn Beeson, and Pastor Allen Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of Chelsea Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thurs. 6-8 p.m.
Wilford passed away Wed. morning, Sept. 11, 2013, at his home at the age of 96.
The son of Oscar and Nellie (Allard) Terry was born March 31, 1917, in Big Cabin. He grew up in Chelsea, and throughout Rogers and Craig Counties. In 1936, Wilford married Gladys Irene Parker, and they made their home in Chelsea. Wilford was a hard worker. He worked for Miller Transport for 30 years as a truck driver. After retirement he went to work with his son, Bill R. Terry, driving dump trucks for their company, Terry Trucking. Wilford was a member of Chelsea Assembly of God where he served as a Deacon.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Bill R. Terry; grandson, Stephen Terry; and siblings: Mac Terry and Juanita Terry.
Wilford is survived by his wife of 77 years, Gladys of the home; grandson, Mark Terry and wife, Toni of Chelsea; great-grandchildren: Zachary Terry of Claremore, Ryan Terry of Chelsea, Michael Terry of San Diego, Megan Terry of Pryor, and Christina Wood of Oklahoma City; and great-great-grandchildren: Gage Malone and Lane Malone.
