WILLA DEAN WHITWORTH was born to Roy Junior Whitworth and Jo Edith (Whitmore) Whitworth on February 24, 1957 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was diagnosed with Downs Syndrome at birth. Willa Dean grew up in Inola, Oklahoma where her father was an elementary school administrator and her mother was a homemaker.
Willa’s education began in the 1960s at Sunnyside School at the Children’s Medical Center. She was a resident of Hissom Memorial Center before moving to Vinita and being welcomed to the Home of Hope. While at the Home of Hope she was involved in many activities and job programs.
Willa Dean was an avid Elvis Presley fan and collected much Elvis memorabilia for display in her “Elvis Room.” She loved to sing and never passed an opportunity to use a microphone.
Willa was preceded in death by her father, Roy Junior Whitworth who passed February 29, 2008 and her mother, Jo Edith Whitworth, who passed June 8, 1987.
She is survived by her brother Roy Ewing Whitworth and wife Susan Diane Whitworth, nieces Lucinda Dawn Humphrey and Samantha Jo Bonfitto, and great nephews Robert Paul Bonfitto and Vaidyn Paul Bonfitto.
