Memorial service for William "Henry" Kelley, Jr. will be 1 p.m., Fri., Feb. 25, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with his nephew, Michael Bryant, officiating. Military honors will be presented by the U.S. Army.
Henry died Sun., Feb. 20, 2011, at his home at the age of 82.
The son of William Henry and Mable May (McPherson) Kelley was born Nov. 27, 1928, in the Verdigris area. He attended Verdigris and Claremore schools; graduating from Claremore High School in 1946. He entered the U.S. Army in 1950 and served during the Korean War. He served as Tank Commander for the 2nd Army Division. He retired from the Claremore Post Office where he was a Postal Clerk. He enjoyed playing golf, and playing poker with his sisters and their husbands. Henry loved going to sporting events with his daughters, and coaching their softball teams.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters: Elsie, Eunice, Margaret, Laverne, Gladys, and Orene.
He is survived by his wife, Cherry of the home; daughters: Peggy Kelley of Claremore, Kim Kelley of Claremore, Liz Kelley and husband, Bill Drummond of College Station, TX, and Lynn Robertson and husband, Trey of Claremore; grandchildren: Emma and Jack; and several nieces and nephews.
