William Thomas Loyd, known to many as Bill, will be remembered as a devoted husband, Dad, and Pops. He left a profound impact on those around him during his time on this earth. Born on October 20, 1931, in Hobbs, New Mexico, son of Francis and Daphne (White) Loyd. Bill completed his schooling in Waco, Texas, graduating with the class of 1949 before embarking on his military journey with the US Navy. In 1955, Bill exchanged vows with the love of his life, Delphi Maxwell. Their union of 69 years was filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Bill's life was one marked by dedication and service. He served in the Navy for 26 years, stationed on various ships in San Diego and undertaking shore duty in St. Louis, Missouri, and Naples, Italy. His commitment to his country was unwavering, a trait that defined him throughout his life. Following his retirement from the Navy in 1976, the family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to be near both Bill and Delphi's parents. Bill joined his mother Daphne in the realms of the art world, owning a couple of galleries and frame shops in Tulsa and Sand Springs.
Bill found joy in the many memories from time spent at "Bowline," the family-built lake house on Grand Lake. It brought the family together for over 20 years to share weekends and holidays. A sports enthusiast at heart, Bill had a passion for both OSU and OU sports including softball, having watched both teams in the recent Regional and World Series. He was most proud that his 3 children graduated college from OSU. Bill had a love for all dogs, but mostly for his beloved Boxers. His first being Caesar, followed by Baron, Shadow, and Copper. They brought him much joy and companionship over the years.
The space left by Bill's passing is felt deeply by all who had the honor of knowing him. His kindness and positive spirit were a constant in his daily life. He always had a smile to greet you and always asked how you were doing. He was always "doing great", even when he wasn't.
Those family members that survive include his wife, Delphi Lee of the home; his children Michael Loyd, Vicki Mosier and her husband Roger, and Rick Loyd and his wife Kathy; his grandchildren, Christopher Loyd and wife Cassa, Amanda Smith and her husband Derek, Natalie Jarred and her husband John, Grant Mosier and wife Maria, Caroline Mosier, Kaitlin Smith and husband Justin; his great grandchildren, Cody Loyd, Julian Smith, Lincoln Smith, Annalee Smith, Jonah Jarred, and Ellie Smith and many extended family members.
