Funeral service for William “Bill” Marion Stewart will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Inola , with Navy Chaplain Bill Stewart, Jr. officiating and grandsons serving as pallbearers. Interment will be the following day, March 4th, 2:00 pm at the Eastview Memorial Cemetery in Vernon, TX.
William “Bill” Marion Stewart, 81, of Inola, Oklahoma died Thursday evening, February 27, 2014 at Saint Francis hospital in Tulsa, surrounded by his family whom he loved dearly.
The son of Harry and Faye Clark Stewart was born August 18, 1932, in Vernon, Texas. There he was raised and attended school. One day while running his local paper route, Bill met LaDean Reda. It was truly love at first sight. They were married March 21, 1951 in Vernon, Texas. Shortly after their marriage bill was called to serve his country. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon his discharge Bill and his family eventually made their way to Oklahoma. He became one of a handful of employees at the startup of Oil Dynamics Inc. in Tulsa. He was a great employee and was instrumental in its success. His tenure there lasted from September 1962 to January 1995.
In his spare time Bill loved about any kind of outdoor activities. Gardening however was one of his favorites. He enjoyed giving away lots of fruits and vegetable to his family and friends. He was also active in the First Baptist Church of Inola, where he taught Sunday School for 20 years. Bill was a man who loved to help people, and was a great joy to be around.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Faye Steward, 1 sister and 3 brothers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ora LaDean Stewart, along with five children; Larry Stewart of Norman, OK, Rita and Paul Alemore of Broken Arrow, OK, Laura and Bryan Green of Glenpool, OK, Bill and Tomoko Stewart of Seabeck, WA and Rhonda and Rusty Chevalier of Skiatook, OK; two sisters, Kathleen and Art Latimer of Arlington, TX and Shirley Reasor of Mesquite, TX; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a host of other loving nieces, nephews and relatives.
