Graveside service for William "Bill" Tedlock will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Veterans Gazebo in Chelsea Cemetery. Pastor Eddie Matthews will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
Bill passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011 at his home in Chelsea at the age of 76 years, 3 months, and 3 days.
The son of Virgil and Mary Jacobs Tedlock was born June 22, 1935 in Wichita, Kansas. As a young boy he and his family moved to the Chelsea area. He attended Chelsea schools graduating with the class of 1954. On July 19, 1954 Bill joined the United States Navy. He served 8 years until his discharge August 13, 1963. Upon his return home Bill began working for American Airlines. After a few years of service he left American Airlines and began working for himself as a general contractor. On November 8, 1998 he married Kay Rhodenizer. They continued to live in Chelsea. In his spare time Bill loved hunting. He was very popular with many local sportsmen, for his knowledge in reloading ammunition. Recently he took his love of guns a step further by helping start an organization called Guns for Groceries. This organization was started to help local Chelsea families in need.
He is preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Mary.
Survivors include his wife Kay of the home; daughters, Lisa Parks and husband Neil of Tulsa, and Laura Tedlock of Chelsea; step-daughter, Rhoda Franks of Chelsea; step-son, Bobby Franks and wife Christi of Verdigris; sister, Mary Ann Maggard of Chelsea and 8 grandchildren.
